Two $750.00 educational scholarships will be
awarded at the 20th Annual AACPM
Professional Development Conference to be
held in Columbus, Ohio on September 7-9,
2008. The
scholarship is available to all members of
the Academy who are enrolled in a college
program that prepares them for a career in
public management. Applicants must submit an
application form and two letters of
recommendation. Society
leadership is encouraged to identify
candidates from their respective society and
to encourage their members to apply.
The scholarship is named for Fran Wilkinson,
an early leader in CPM. Fran was dedicated
to professional and adult education. She was
president of the Georgia Society in 1983 and
Chair of the National CPM Consortium in
1987. Fran died unexpectedly on June 6,
1990. On April 30, 1994 the House of
Delegates voted unanimously to name the
Academy’s annual scholarship “The Fran L.
Wilkinson Memorial Scholarship” as a token
of remembrance, affection, and esteem.
At the annual Academy Awards banquet in Orlando,
Florida, Barbara Taft, 2009 Committee
Chairperson, announced the selection of two to
receive the 2009 Fran L. Wilkinson Memorial
Scholarship. Receiving these were Julie
Farris of Arkansas and Tricia Foster
of New Hampshire.
|
Julie Farris will apply her Wilkinson
Scholarship toward earning a bachelor’s degree
from Kaplan University. She hopes to teach at
the collegiate level, establish a local business
ethics association, and promote a non-profit
Arkansas State Business Ethics Association.

skills and add versatility to her 11-year
position at the New Hampshire Department of
Health and Human Services. |
